Holmfirth Harriers has a fantastic tradition in Cross Country and has a thriving section that caters for all ages. Events take place throughout the year and we have teams regularly competing and winning prizes at both local and national level.
The West Yorkshire Cross Country League is a fantastic introduction for all Harriers irrespective of ability or age to put on some spikes and have a go. The League has been an excellent success and we regularly have up to 80 athletes taking part across the age groups, producing excellent results and most of all having fun.
Interested in taking part or wanting to know a little more please feel free to speak to Chris Beadle, CC Secretary or either club Captain, Helena Croft or Michael Sanderson as they both compete. Send them an e-mail (link on Club Officials page).
We compete every year in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League – see races.
Holmfirth Harriers also compete in the Yorkshire, Northern and English National CC Championships plus the YVAA CC Championships (see Vets Pages) which usually take place in January / February. Keep a look our on our races listings to compete. Your club needs you!
The Club operates a Club CC Championships using the above mentioned races.
They are the Phillip Bradley Rose Bowl for senior men, the Shaw Shield for senior women, Anthony Marsh Cup for o/13s (u/13, u/15, u/17, u/20 boys) and Trevor Ramsden Cup for the corresponding age groups for girls.
All of these are calculated from points gained when starting and finishing any or all of the four West Yorkshire Cross Country league races plus the Yorkshire County C C C , the Northern C C C and the National C C C . The u/11s have only the 4 WYCCCL races for their leagues as the ECCU consider it not suitable for that age group and the many suitable open races which were once available have sadly faded away. A small plaque in lieu of a medal is given to them.
